Annual Employment & HR Policy Update

7 March 2015

Michael Corrigan of Platinum Employee Relations provides an employment update and counters myths and misconceptions around HR policies.

Having human resource policies and procedures alone is not enough. If the intent and meaning of these documents are not clearly communicated throughout of the organisation, they are likely to lose their legal and ‘culture building’ effectiveness.

Discussion at our seminar will include:

  • Making sure the written version of the policy can be understood by the total population of the workforce
  • Having a sign-off process that provides reasonable time for employees to read the document
  • Ensuring managers are properly trained to understand and use the policies
  • Ensuring staff are briefed on the content of the policy
  • Ensuring the policy is accessible to all members of your workforce
  • Ensuring employees, their representatives and other stakeholders are consulted on the content of policies at the time of development and updates
  • Ensuring that managers and staff are trained properly in relation to ‘behaviour’ related policies (i.e Anti-bullying/Discrimination)
  • Ensuring there is an ongoing program of communication on HR Policies
