Mid-year Update from NSW/ACT

10 August 2018

The ACA – NSW/ACT branch has planned a host of interesting events for the second half of 2018.

ACA members and software specialists will get together to talk all things tech on 12 September, with a Q and A session and a focus on software solutions for efficient practice management.

On 24 October, the ACA will partner with the Australian Institute of Architects in NSW to run a Sustainable Architectural Futures Forum with a select group of 30 specialists from a range of professional backgrounds, including the architecture profession, universities, institutions, government, consultants, clients and the media. Participants will share ideas for the future of the profession, matching problems with realistic solutions, and identifying potential pathways to success.

November will also be a busy month, with networking events held in Sydney on the 12th, Newcastle on the 14th, and Canberra on the 22nd/23rd. And finally, as the year comes to a close, the NSW/ACT branch will host its final seminar for 2018 in December on HR and employee management, followed by the branch Christmas party.

The ACA will keep you up to date on times, venues and information on speakers as details are formalised.

Other News …

The ACA – NSW/ACT branch is looking at a scheme for limiting liability for architects, similar to surveyors, lawyers and other professions. This would have the effect of holding down professional indemnity insurance premiums for those ACA members of the scheme.

NSW members should also be aware that from 1 July 2018, Residential Contracts in NSW need to include the ‘exact amount’ of the HCBF insurance mentioned as a separate item adjacent to the contract sum.
