Design of Aged Care Facility creates Life and Vitality

John Wesley Gardens Aged Care Facility is the latest multi-storey aged care community development by Wesley Mission Brisbane.

The new John Wesley Gardens development will integrate into the Geebung community through not only the new built scale, but by building on existing connections with the community. The design recognises the importance of drawing in visitors from the wider community to bring life and vitality to the facility, so the public spaces are easily accessible and are set within beautiful gardens.

The development will see a new aged care community development comprising of 144 beds that will provide a home for elderly residents over two storeys, replacing the 90 beds on the existing site. At the centre of the site is Montville, a building accommodating administration and gathering spaces. Gardens are a priority for resident wellbeing, so a large basement accommodates the majority of car parking, hospitality and back of house functions. Additionally the project includes the refurbishment of a 1960’s chapel as a multi-purpose space for both functions and training.

At this stage the facility is set to open in October 2016.

The Skilful Business Architect

The business of running an architectural practice requires ongoing focus and dedication from business leaders, yet is often neglected in the process of servicing clients and delivering projects.

Management for Design addressed these issues recently in a half day seminar/workshop for the Association of Consulting Architects – QLD/NT. Rob Peake investigated the main elements that make up an architectural business and simplified the complexities of business management across strategy, leadership, people, systems, management, managing risk, financial control and profitability, marketing and project delivery.

As Rob explained the only way to control and build your business is to focus “on your business” rather than “in your business”. The application of these business foundations will set you on your path to establishing a business that enables you to shape and control your destiny.

Contact Rob Peake at Management for Design www.m4d.com.au if you need assistance in building a great architecture business.
