ACA - SA August Update
An update on activities in South Australia.
Farewell to Cate Roberts
After a year as Executive Officer with ACA – SA Cate has submitted her resignation due to her other work commitments. We thank her for her efforts and the difference it has made to the smooth running of the local branch, as well as her commitment to national issues.
We are therefore looking for a new person to take over her role – if you know of anyone who may be interested (current time commitment is about 4 hours per week) please contact Ian Hore.
Keith Neighbour Study Group
The latest study group leading up to registration is nearing completion, with members sitting for their written exams in late August. Over twenty participated in the group this time – we wish them all the best!
Research Projects
ACA – SA is continuing to look at the feasibility of research projects including a “State of the Profession” study and is currently seeking funding for these.
Subconsultants Agreements
We should see the first draft of back-to-back deeds for use with common client architect agreements in the near future.
Other Activities
ACA – SA executive members have been involved in a number of meetings. These include a meeting with MBA CEO John Stokes to follow up on some of the issues raised at the round table between builders and architects; a meeting with Minister of Infrastructure’s Advisor Connie Blefari and Judith Carr regarding possible changes at DPTI, and a meeting with DPTI project services regarding fees and documentation quality.
The committee is meeting with ODASA next week to discuss the Design Review process. In October we plan to meet with Local Government about their contracting arrangements. We would appreciate any comments or issues that members would like raised at that meeting – contact John Held on 8172 8703.
John Held is the ACA – SA President.
