ACA - SA December Update
The last SA update for 2015. (Have you done the State of the Profession Survey yet?)
ACA Committee
A special welcome to John Schmidt, of GHD, who joins the new ACA – SA Committee. Thanks also to Ashley Halliday, who leaves the committee but hopes to still be involved. Mario Dreosti has been elected Vice-President for the coming term, and we thank Simon Thomson for his work as the previous Vice-President.
Architectural Practice Board Fellowship – State Of The Profession: Update
If your practice has not filled out this survey, time is running out! The response rate has been heartening, and combined with analytical work undertaken by Gill Matthewson on the Census data, we should get a much better picture of the state of the Profession when the results are completed in the new year.
Liasion with DPTI
There have been several meetings with DPTI regarding changes to the way Lead PSC tenders are called and the move away from Construction Management to novation, along with changes to the role of risk management within DPTI for building projects. We would like more feedback from members as to how this will affect current and future work, with the view to seek further dialogue and consultation with DPTI. At this stage, it is fair to say that many of the issues considered important by ACA members in our last survey have not been addressed.
Liasion with MBA
Early in the new year we are meeting with the MBA to discuss revisions to the current tendering guidelines agreed in 2004. We believe it is time to revisit these, particularly in an age of electronic issuing of documents and lodgement of tenders. Any members interested in participating in this discussion should contact Graham Hardy.
John Held is the ACA – SA President and a director of Russell and Yelland.
