Doing Documentation Better

3 October 2020

On 11 November 2020, guest speaker Alex Chistiakoff presented an ACA webinar on delivering high quality documentation efficiently and consistently.

The successful delivery of a building is a constant challenge in architectural practice and one intrinsically linked to the quality of the building’s design documentation, regardless of its scale. Preparing quality documentation can be demanding, with persistent time and cost pressures, despite the risks in play. Recent high-profile building failures have shone a light on poor practices and the need for change. With new legislation in NSW, and other states soon to follow, the need for quality building design documentation is a pressing issue.

On 11 November, Alex Chistiakoff will discuss the implications of the new legislation in NSW and explain why it is essential to implement quality control measures in documentation. Drawing from his extensive experience in documentation coordination services, he will discuss how architects can better equip themselves for the proposed changes and deliver a higher quality of documentation.

Alex’s presentation will include examples, explaining methods to ensure that all components in the documentation (Drawings + Schedules + the Specification) work well with each other.

He will also cover the following topics:

  • An introduction and overview of documentation
  • Personal observations and experiences as a consultant
  • Establishing procedures
  • Coordination of components
  • Managing work
  • Documents for CC stage
  • Tender documents and contracts
  • Design and Construct documentation
  • Construction stage
