NSW/ACT Update

Agi Sterling , 19 September 2017

ACA – NSW/ACT is moving ahead on a new program of events and initiatives.

ACA Insight webinars

The Branch Committee continues to work with webinar co-ordinator Katherine Ygosse and committee member Michael Lewarne on the ACA Insight national webinar program. Michael has submitted 10 possible topics for 2018. Some webinars – such as the report on the ACA Salary Survey – are annual fixtures, while others will present fresh new content over the coming year. We are also discussing changing the time of the webinars – they may be moved from lunch time to the end of the day to enable attendees to interact, discuss and network at the host offices after the formal presentation.

2018 event program

NSW is also putting together a plan of events for the next year. At this stage, plans include the following:

  • Two technology seminars
  • A conversation about business with three builders, each representing a different size of business (a small, medium and a large company)
  • Tone Wheeler talking about sustainability
  • Michael Corrigan on HR and workplace issues

Unfortunately, we have had to withdraw from the Board of Architects / ACA combined function, which proved to be not financially viable this year.

ACA Member Forum

The ACA Member Forum being developed by Justin Loe is in trial mode, with a launch date anticipated at the start of November. We are still looking for people to help with the testing – see here if you are interested in participating in the trial.

Looking ahead

As ACA – NSW/ACT President, I am continuing to spread the word about the ACA to fellow architects – my next step is to address LOWAN, which is a small practice network located on the Lower North Shore of Sydney.

The ACA – NSW/ACT October meeting will include a discussion with Planned Cover, one of the ACA national sponsors.
