Brisbane Site Tour
The ACA’s site visits in Queensland are always a crowd pleaser, and the recent exclusive tour of 1 William Street was no exception.
On 18 June, a group of ACA – QLD/NT members met at 1 William Street for a special presentation and site tour. Designed by Woods Bagot, 1 William Street is positioned on the banks of the Brisbane River and was built to accommodate the Queensland public service.
From the Cabinet Room on Level 41, Sarah McMahon and John Flynn spoke about the unique brief, highlighted the use of local timbers and other products in the interiors, and talked us through some of the innovative features of the building, including facade sunshades that adjust depending on aspect and sun exposure, automatic blind controls, and rainwater and condensation collection for landscape irrigation.
The group visited the Rooftop Terrace, which features stunning, expansive views of south east Queensland; the three-level atrium, which promotes connectivity; and the retail precinct.
1 William Street is the first building in Queensland to achieve both 6-star Greenstar As Built and Performance ratings and was recently awarded Winner of the 2019 Property Council of Australia – Queensland Development of the Year Award.
The sell-out site tour was was organised by Cbus Property development, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cbus Super. Thanks to Cbus for the organisation of this great event.
