Effective Conflict Management Workshop

4 June 2024

Are you comfortable navigating conflict on the building site or in the office? Do you have strategies to resolve disputes and come to a cooperative resolution? Handling conflict is not easy, whether it’s a client, a subcontractor or a staff member.

The ACA QLD/NT Committee is offering practical assistance with an AMWF lunch and workshop on Effective Conflict Management with Clinical Director of North Brisbane Psychologists, Dr Rachel Hannam.

In this workshop, Rachel Hannam will guide participants through essential communication strategies to manage and transform conflict effectively. She will cover the following topics:

  • Clear Communication – Learn how to articulate without assigning blame or making judgements.
  • Trust Rebuilding – Discover methods to express feelings transparently and non-judgementally to rebuild trust.
  • Unmet Needs – Understand how to identify and communicate the unmet needs underlying conflicts.
  • Active Listening – Develop skills to listen and connect with the needs of the other party.
  • Cooperative Resolution – Learn to clarify and agree on specific strategies to resolve conflicts cooperatively.

Rachel will demonstrate how language and communication skills can help us maintain our humanity, even in challenging situations.

Dr. Rachel Hannam is the co-founder and Clinical Director of North Brisbane Psychologists, one of Brisbane’s largest psychology practices, with over 40 practitioners. She also co-founded two consultancies for leadership development and conflict management.

Rachel brings extensive experience from both organisational and clinical settings, aiding teams, executives, families, adults and couples in developing adaptive coping strategies and beneficial mindsets. She is a registered and endorsed organisational psychologist with a special interest in non-violent communication (NVC) to manage and transform conflict.
