Employment Update

4 March 2014

ACA – Qld’s March event sees Michael Corrigan provide an update on changes to the Fair Work Act and what they mean for architectural practices.

The Fair Work Act sets out a number of requirements that business, large and small, need to be aware of. Best practice employers know and understand their rights and obligations under workplace law but keeping up to date with the changes can be a challenge. What are the changes to the Fair Work Act?

The changes to the Fair Work Act include:

  • new anti-bullying measures
  • changes to right of entry
  • new consultation terms when changing regular rosters and working hours
  • arbitration available for dismissal disputes at the Fair Work Commission
  • new timeframes for unlawful termination applications
  • updated superannuation terms.
