New Plumbing Courses

9 March 2022

The ABCB has announced the release of two NCC CPD courses on plumbing, one on heated water services and the other on how to comply with the PCA.

These one-hour courses explore how the National Construction Code (NCC) and Plumbing Code of Australia (PCA) work together.

The NCC CPD courses can help practitioners identify and rectify non-compliance quickly, have greater confidence in decision making and provide valuable reassurance to clients of the commitment to achieving compliant outcomes.

All NCC CPD courses are available online 24/7 and are accessible by mobile. You are able to start and pause the course and complete it at a pace that suits you.

How the PCA works

This course provides guidance on how to ensure work complies with the PCA. It explores PCA, its structure, content, role and relationship to jurisdictional legislation, the other NCC volumes and referenced documents (particularly the AS/NZS 3500 standards).

It includes three chapters, which cover:

  • Understanding the big picture
  • A plumbing scenario on applying the PCA in change of use of a building
  • Demonstrating compliance

The course also explains how the PCA links to the Building Code of Australia (BCA), the use of Performance Solutions, and commonly asked questions and related provisions. Find out more.

Heated water services

This course provides guidance on heated water services and explains the importance of using the PCA to ensure health and safety. The course also explores the importance of designing, installing and maintaining a heated water service correctly.

It includes three chapters, which cover:

  • Introduction to the PCA and Part B2
  • Production and storage of heated water
  • Delivery of heated water

The course also explains the importance of temperature and pressure relief, managing Legionella growth, and poses commonly asked questions to show you how to apply the PCA in practice. Find out more.

How to purchase a course

These courses are available now on the NCC CPD website, each at an introductory price of $44 – for a limited time only.

Once purchased, the course will be available in your NCC CPD member profile, ready for you to complete at a time and pace that suits you.
