Nominations Open for Australian Honours
Is there someone exceptional within the architecture profession who you would like to nominate for an Australian Honour? The Order of Australia recognises Australians for outstanding service or exceptional achievement in a diverse range of fields and areas of endeavour, including architecture.
Anyone can nominate a living Australian or permanent resident for an award at any time during the year – and it’s an easy process.
Everyone who is recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List each year is nominated by someone in the community. This means we all have the ability to recognise someone for their hard-work and service. It also means that it is up to all of us to ensure our national awards system represents our diversity – across gender, cultural backgrounds and categories of endeavour.
Of the 933 Australians recognised in the Honours List in June 2020, only one was listed for “significant service to architecture” (Congratulations Professor Esther Charlesworth!).
Who do you think should be on the list for 2021?
It only takes a few moments of your time to nominate someone exceptional. For more information and to start the process, head to the Australian Honours page of the Governor-General of Australia’s website.
