Qld Seminar - Prepare for the Future

14 June 2019

Join the ACA and the Institute of Architects on 26 June for an important seminar on delivering great projects in Queensland’s new procurement environment.

There has been rapid change in government policy and standards across the globe and locally. From 1 July we will be working in a new context.

This seminar will outline the changes, identify what the architecture profession needs to do to engage with the new requirements, and discuss the opportunities for Queensland practices.

In November last year the Queensland Government released its BIM Principles, which will affect all participants in the delivery of built assets across the State. These BIM Principles nominate the new standards – ISO 19650.1 and ISO 19650.2 – as the process to be followed by the supply chain in the procurement of projects from 1 July 2019.

But what does this mean for the architectural profession? What do we need to do to become capable of delivering projects for the State Government from 1 July 2019? What is the current state of the profession, and is it ready to meet the deliverable requirements?

The joint ACA / Institute of Architects event will enable participants to address these questions in three ways:

  • Understand the Queensland Government BIM Principles and their progress to date.
  • Learn about ISO Standards 19650.1 and ISO 19650.2 and the industry guide that accompanies them.
  • Hear the results of the Digital Capability of Australian Architects survey to know where your practice sits.
