Richard Choy Wins AIA Prize!

7 March 2022

Congratulations to NATSPEC CEO Richard Choy, who has been awarded the 2022 Australian Institute of Architects Queensland Chapter President’s Prize by Dr Michael Lavery.

Hearty congratulations to Richard Choy from the ACA. Terrific news and most well deserved.

Richard has been a strong supporter of the ACA, with NATSPEC sponsorship funding the development of ACA’s Salary Calculator and our recent Coronavirus coverage. NATSPEC is also the inaugural partner of the Architects Mental Wellbeing Forum in Australia, supporting our work with events and resources. The ACA has valued Richard’s ongoing support of the profession through the important initiatives we have introduced over the years.

The award is for outstanding service to the architectural profession from outside the Institute. The AIA had the following to say about Richard’s work.

Richard has supported the Institute’s CPD through SONA and EmAGN, and he has helped develop CPD initiatives including TECHnotes and ArchiTech. Richard has presented to architecture student at universities around Australia for almost two decades. He continues to present nationally on technical topics at architecture forums and networks including presentations for organisations including the Institute, the Association of Consulting Architects (ACA), Planned Cover, architecture networks and building design associations.

Richard continues to support the industry through the work of the Australian Building Codes Board, the Australasian BIM Advisory Board, and the joint activities of the Australasian Procurement and Construction Council and the Australian Construction Industry Forum.

Congratulations Richard!
