The popular annual Risky Business webinar, held in July 2021, featured expert speakers offering legal, insurance and practitioner insights on how to actively manage risk in practice.

Speakers

John Moore, Partner of Thynne + Macartney

John developed the Professional Risk Group at Thynne + Macartney over 30 years ago. His in-depth understanding of relationships assists in avoiding misunderstandings that may ultimately have a commercial impact. John has had a long history of specialist practice in the area of professional negligence and defence of professionals of various disciplines and in relation to a wide variety of claims from very large and complex matters to smaller cases in Australia and overseas. Some areas of John’s specialisation include: professional risks, directors and officers liability, employment practices liability, risk management (large project, retainer and construction agreement review), commercial construction, and dispute resolution and mediations of all types.

Karen Meiklejohn, QLD/NT Branch Manager, Planned Cover

With over 30 years in the Insurance industry, Karen has worked on all classes of insurance, specialising in professional indemnity insurance. She has worked extensively with architects, engineers, building designers, real estate agents and accountants. Karen also works with members to provide education and risk management solutions.

Paul Trotter, Director, Fulton Trotter Architects

Paul has been a director at Fulton Trotter Architects for over 25 years. During this time, he has been involved in numerous exceptional health care, aged care, cultural and education projects. Paul is an Adjunct Professor and sessional academic at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), leading design students for their Master of Architecture course. He is the co-convenor of the PALS course provided by the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) for the preparation of graduate architects for registration. Paul has also led the profession as President of the Queensland Chapter of the Australian Institute of Architects.
