Sponsorship can make an enormous difference to an individual’s career development, range of project experience, personal networks and confidence, but in architecture these relationships largely occur in an informal or ad hoc way, and are often limited to a select few.

Sponsorship means advocating for others in the forums and spaces that they may not have access to, and with people who may be unfamiliar with their skills and talents. It means using your connections, influence and power to support others. This session explores how sponsorship can be used to help develop and support the careers of underrepresented groups. Our speakers discuss the opportunities and pitfalls, and share lessons learned.

To complement this session, read the accompanying articles How to support career sponsorship and What is career sponsorship and why does it matter?
