What is the future of architectural practice? In the first ACA Insight national webinar for 2017 Dr Peter Raisbeck argues that practices need a major rethink and outlines the possibilities of a new focus on design knowledge ecosystems.

In this webinar Dr Peter Raisbeck will explore how the successful future of the architectural firm is contingent on a practice focus towards knowledge production. He argues that the rise of the digital media economy and its associated economic volatility necessitates architects abandoning the ‘building object’ paradigm. He will outline the key elements that architects need to manage their firms as Design Knowledge Ecosystems. In discussing these elements Peter will discuss the management of research, design portfolios, design processes, and managing knowledge across boundaries. He will conclude by arguing that in the future successful architectural firms will require radical new models of leadership.
