The latest from ACA - Vic/Tas

12 April 2018

The ACA – Vic/Tas committee is working on a range of fronts to tackle issues impacting members and to develop systems to assist in the practice of architecture. The ACA Salary Calculator is currently being updated to address the range of awards for employees that constitute contemporary architectural practice. The ACA Architects’ Time/Cost Calculator has been updated with a revised framework and simplified categories to make it more direct and simple to use. This will be live from the start of May.

University of Melbourne senior lecturer in architectural practice, Dr Peter Raisbeck, spoke at last month’s ACA seminar on ‘Managing a Competitive Practice’, providing valuable insights from his research on the challenges of modern practice.

The next seminar, to be held in June, will cover the latest on practice systems.

ACA – Vic/Tas President, Paul Viney, together with Cos Cirocco, of Planned Cover, recently held an information evening in Hobart. Hosted by Brickworks, this introduced a number of members and non-members to the ACA, benefits of the Business Toolbox and other resources.

ACA – Vic/Tas is currently undertaking a review for the DEECD of delivery processes for the new Program Manager, Aurecon, to assist in streamlining and updating what had become a significant administrative burden on many practices.

The ACA – Vic/Tas has been invited to present the Architects’ Time/Cost Calculator to the AIA NSW Chapter workshop on Pricing Design Services and Writing Fee Proposals by Blue Turtle Management and Consulting, to be held on 3 May.
