What's New from ACA - Qld/NT
ACA – Qld/NT has had a busy month, with new members, a successful site tour and plans for the annual members’ dinner and trivia night.
Margaret Cribb Child Care Centre Site Tour
The ACA – Qld/NT Branch hosted a tour of the new Margaret Cribb Child Care Centre at the University of Queensland St Lucia campus on 22 August. Designed by dwp, the centre is founded upon the Reggio Emilia approach, a philosophy focused on preschool and primary education. The physical environment is fundamental to the pedagogy and is often referred to the ‘third teacher’.
Situated on a prominent elevated site on Sir Fred Schonell Drive, the new centre also forms an important gateway to the University. The design features extensive use of recycled timber external cladding and a larger than required integrated external play area for the centre’s 154 children.
