How will technology shape the future of architectural practice? Save the date for our upcoming webinar on 24 July with Ceilidh Higgins. It’s not to be missed.

Many architects believe that their jobs will be safe from the robots – after all, our roles involve extensive human interaction and complex problem solving across a wide range of fields. You may not have noticed yet, but automation has already arrived in many architecture practices. What are some of the current technologies available and what is just around the corner? What is ahead for construction – the least technologically developed sector? Finally what could automation mean for the way we practise – and what do Google, WeWork and Amazon have to do with the future of architecture?

Our July webinar will cover a wide range of existing and new technologies being used in design and practice, as well as looking at emerging technologies that will likely impact the future of design and construction. These technologies may not just change the way we work – they may change the very structure of our profession. You don’t have to know anything about software to benefit from this webinar – this is a high-level discussion, aiming at expanding horizons and debating what might influence the future of architecture, engineering and construction.

Speaker – Ceilidh Higgins

Ceilidh researches, writes and speculates on the future of work – both as a place and the processes of working within the AEC industry – and the impacts of technology upon both. She also writes an excellent blog called The Midnight Lunch: Collaboration in Interior Design, Architecture and Multidisciplinary Consulting. In her day job, she works as an Interior Design Leader and a Senior Associate at Custance Associates, with experience in workplace strategy, design and implementation. Ceilidh’s speciality is work – both the places we work and the way we work. She delivers workplace projects from as small as 5 people through to upwards of 1000 people.

Ceilidh is active within both the green building and the BIM communities. She is the marketing manager for the BILT ANZ committee, a conference known worldwide as one of the leading events in educating AEC professionals in BIM and new technology. She has been a regular speaker at BILT events globally, teaching classes on the future of technology as well as more technical classes in Revit.
