As part of our commitment to our national Reconciliation Action Plan, ACA SA is hosting a series of lunchtime talks that will explore the opportunities and privileges of working on Country and with First Nations people. These talks are an opportunity for Adelaide practices to share knowledge, network and build the cultural understanding of their staff.
Our second event will focus on practical engagement outcomes from recent projects. Anthony Coupe (Mulloway Studio) will look at maintenance and representation at Pomberuk Murray Bridge – the bridge, the wharves, and how infrastructure can become cultural messengers. Ashley Halliday (Ashley Halliday Architects) will share aspects of his journey walking together with the Kaurna Community to co-create Yitpi Yartapuultiku, a unique place of connection, healing and cultural immersion that is reinvigorating the Soul of Port Adelaide. Susan Phillips (Phillips/Pilkington Architects) will talk of the practice’s experience working with First Nations People and of their recently completed project, the Gunditj Mirring Keeping Place and Business Centre for the Gunditj Mirring Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation.
We look forward to seeing you there.
