ACA - SA State of the Profession Survey

17 November 2015

The ACA – SA State of the Profession survey seeks to understand the state of the profession and its potential futures. The survey is now closed and the results are being analysed.

This survey will establish a snapshot of the SA architecture profession in 2015, which is vital to strategising for the future. We also want to understand how the current profession differs from that of the past, so the survey includes a set of questions that ask you to reflect on changes in your practice and the profession over the last ten years.

We encourage all SA practices to participate – the more responses we get, the more meaningful the results and the more information we can provide you to help you chart the future of your practice.

The survey has now closed.

Who can take the survey?

The survey is open to all practices involved in architecture operating in South Australia.

Please submit ONE survey response per practice only.

How long will it take?

The survey will take approximately 15–20 minutes to complete.

What do you need to complete the survey?

The survey includes questions on the following:

  • Practice demographics and business structure
  • Sectors and types of work
  • Staffing – including numbers, gender and hours of work
  • Practice finances
  • Client types and delivery contexts
  • Working internationally

Please ensure you have material to hand to answer questions on these topic areas before you start the survey. It will be helpful to have your insurance renewal forms to hand as these will include some of the information required. You can edit and change your responses until you complete the survey.

If your practice is part of a national organisation, please answer for the SA part of the business only, unless otherwise indicated. Please answer these questions for the last financial year, unless otherwise indicated.

Why is ACA – SA doing the survey?

This is part of the ACA — SA  State of the Profession project, which is funded through the 2015 Architectural Practice Board of SA Research Fellowship, awarded to John Held and Sue Phillips of ACA – SA.

The ACA believes that it is vital to understand more about the state of the profession so that we can collectively strategise about the future.

This is part of a pilot study. It will form the basis of ongoing research that will allow us to build a stronger understanding of change in the profession over time.
