CEO Report – April 2025

31 March 2025

The Pulse Check was originally created as a rapid-response initiative to gather real-time insights into the challenges faced by architectural practices. In times of uncertainty, particularly during and following the COVID-19 pandemic, it provided crucial data that shaped our advocacy efforts, informed decision-making, and enabled the ACA to deliver relevant and timely support to its members. The findings also offered a clearer picture of the profession’s preparedness and key needs, guiding the ACA’s ongoing projects. The insights also contribute to ACIF’s discussions with the government on the construction industry’s impacts and inform the ACA’s engagement with other industry groups.

Since then, the business landscape has continued to evolve at an unparalleled pace. Economic pressures, industry shifts, technological change, project delays and cancellations, escalating business costs and workforce challenges mean that now, more than ever, we need up-to-date information to understand the realities of practice today. The Pulse Check remains a critical tool in gathering this information and ensuring that the ACA can effectively represent and support architectural businesses across Australia.

Our commitment to research has always been at the heart of our work. The ACA has a strong legacy of conducting and supporting research that helps practices stay informed and adaptable in a rapidly changing environment. By participating in the upcoming Pulse Check survey, you will contribute to a collective knowledge base that benefits the entire profession.

We encourage you to take part, share your experiences and perspective, and help shape the conversation on the challenges and opportunities ahead.
