Join the ACA at Sydney Build
Two ACA members will take the stage at Sydney Build this year, contributing to panel discussions on wellbeing in practice and the architect’s role in delivering sustainable buildings.
Sydney Build returns on 29 + 30 April, bringing together professionals from architecture, construction, engineering and development for two days of industry discussion, learning and networking.
As Australia’s largest construction and design show, Sydney Build provides the opportunity for architects to connect with the wider construction sector, hear from leading voices across government and industry, and explore emerging ideas shaping the built environment.
This year, members of the Association of Consulting Architects (ACA) will be contributing to the program through two panel discussions that address important issues facing the profession – from wellbeing in practice to the role of architects in delivering sustainable buildings.
Making Mental Health in Construction Everyone’s Issue
10am, Wednesday 29 April
ACA member Hamish Ginn, Senior Associate – People & Culture at SJB, will join a panel discussion exploring how the construction industry can better support mental health and wellbeing across the workforce.
With over 25 years of architectural practice across Australia and the UK, Hamish brings a valuable perspective that bridges project delivery and workplace culture. In his SJB role, he supports the studio through wellbeing initiatives, professional development programs and policies that strengthen workplace culture.
Hamish has also been actively involved in industry initiatives including the ACA’s Architects’ Mental Wellbeing Forum, the Australian Institute of Architects’ Large Practice Forum, and mentoring programs that support the next generation of architects.
This session will examine how organisations across the built environment can take shared responsibility for improving wellbeing in the construction sector.
Sustainable Buildings for Everyone, Everywhere
2pm, Thursday 30 April
An accomplished architect and leader in embedding Indigenous principles in the built environment, Sacha Anderson has been with ARCH since 2011, working across masterplanning, design, client consultation and project delivery. Her work is defined by a commitment to design outcomes that respond to Country and elevate community voices.
Sacha has delivered major healthcare projects in regional New South Wales, creating culturally responsive environments that reflect local values and Indigenous perspectives. Her practice centres on combining Indigenous knowledge with contemporary design while prioritising dignity and community outcomes.
As Chair of ARCH’s Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group, she leads reconciliation initiatives including cross-cultural training and community partnership frameworks.
Join Sacha for a discussion on how architects and designers can create buildings that are environmentally responsible, socially inclusive and adaptable across different climates, cultures and communities.
Connect with the broader construction industry
Alongside the conference program, Sydney Build attendees can participate in CPD sessions, workshops and networking events that bring together professionals from across the industry.
The ACA encourages members attending Sydney Build to take the opportunity to connect with colleagues, share insights and contribute to conversations about the future of architectural practice. You can also find us – at Stand V9 through the Wednesday and Thursday.
