Blockchain as a pathway to sustainability
How can blockchain technology improve transparency, accountability and sustainability in the construction industry? Join the ACA and Adelaide University’s Dr Navodana Rodrigo for this CPD webinar exploring emerging applications of blockchain technology in the built environment, drawing on current research, pilot projects and real-world examples.
BOOK NOW
Blockchain technology has gained significant attention as a disruptive digital innovation with the potential to support sustainable development. Blockchain’s inherent features enhance security, trust, transparency, traceability and accountability, enabling it to contribute towards a more sustainable built environment ecosystem.
Drawing on contemporary research and real-world case studies, Navodana will explore blockchain’s opportunities and limitations, and potential to contribute to more sustainable outcomes across the building and construction industry.
The session will examine:
- Carbon estimating – how blockchain can support more transparent and reliable carbon assessment, including a demonstration of a research-developed system.
- Circular economy – applications of blockchain to improve material traceability, resource recovery, waste management and circular economy practices.
- Solar waste management – emerging research into the use of blockchain to support the tracking and management of end-of-life solar panels.
This presentation is a collaboration with Arch_Manu: ARC Centre for Next-Gen Architectural Manufacturing ITTC.
