Common Claims and Mitigating Risk

Professional indemnity (PI) insurance is a critical safeguard for architectural practices, but understanding how it operates when a claim arises – and how everyday professional decisions can affect liability exposure – is just as important.

Join the ACA on 10 November for an interactive CPD webinar with Andrew Brennan and Robert Finnigan, Partners at Wotton Kearney, who specialise in defending professional liability claims against architects and other construction professionals.

BOOK NOW

Drawing on their extensive experience managing claims on behalf of insurers and design professionals, Andrew and Rob will take a deep dive into real-life claims involving architects. Through practical case studies, they will examine how claims develop, the role of PI insurance in responding to claims, and the risk management strategies that can make a material difference to the outcome.

This webinar will explore:

  • Real-life professional liability claims against architects – what went wrong and what can be learned.
  • How professional indemnity insurance responds to claims, including important coverage considerations and potential limitations.
  • The claims management process – notification, working with insurers and legal advisers, and managing a claim through to resolution.
  • Common areas of professional exposure and emerging legal and regulatory risks.
  • Practical steps to reduce the likelihood and impact of claims, including good documentation, communication and risk management practices.
  • Whether you’re a sole practitioner, practice director or project architect, this session will provide practical insights into managing professional risk, understanding your PI insurance arrangements and protecting your practice, projects and professional reputation.
