The Business of Small Practice – Market Matters

The Business of Small Practice is on Thursday, and this is your last chance to purchase a ticket! Over two sessions, ACA WA Vice-President Kate FitzGerald and guests will unpack the state of the West Australian housing market with property experts and practitioners.

Session One, 2 pm – 3 pm

Three rapid-fire presentations by industry experts:

  • Construction Market Update with Michael McGowan, Executive Director at the Housing Industry Association
  • What’s in and out in ‘Part C’ (formerly known as the Medium Density Code) with Georgia Young, Senior Planner at Hames Sharley
  • The residential property market and the opportunity of the architect/developer with Kate Fitzgerald, Whispering Smith and New Resident.

Session Two, 3.30 pm – 4.30/5 pm

  • A deeper dive into the industry, using examples from projects delivered in Perth. Matt Delroy-Carr, Director at MCG Architects, and Daniel Paton, Director at Developed, will describe how to combine the best of Part C with the opportunities on offer in the Perth housing market.
  • Industry Discussion + Q&A: how can architects engage in the affordable housing market? Can architects help to improve the rental market by delivering better medium-density housing? How do we demonstrate the potential of architecture to enhance the medium-density market?
