Angelina Pillai joins the ACIF Board
We are delighted to announce that ACA CEO Angelina Pillai has been appointed to the Board of the Australian Construction Industry Forum (ACIF) – a continuation of the ACA’s growing influence in the national policy conversation.
ACIF describes itself as a “meeting place for leaders in the construction industry”, acting as an umbrella organisation for the professions and trades that contribute to the built environment in Australia. The ACA has been a member for well over 20 years, and the connection has proven consistently valuable. Our immediate past President, John Held, served as a Board Member and Deputy Chair for many years, and Angelina’s board appointment continues that tradition of meaningful ACA representation at the highest level.
ACIF provides direct and regular access to MPs and policymakers in Canberra, and a collegiate forum where ideas are workshopped across professions and trades. For the ACA, it is a gateway into government and a platform from which we can represent the perspective of architectural business owners within the broader built environment.
The challenges facing the built environment cut across professional boundaries and sectors. ACIF provides a valuable forum where industry leaders and policymakers can come together to tackle these issues collectively. I’m honoured to join the Board and look forward to helping ensure architecture continues to play a meaningful role in shaping Australia’s future.
Angelina Pillai, ACA CEO
Our involvement in ACIF has contributed to significant advocacy wins, most recently the campaign for free Australian Standards, championed by the ACA on behalf of our members and advanced collectively through ACIF. Other areas of active focus include the national housing crisis, climate change adaptation, energy transition, updates to the National Construction Code, payment security and industry culture.
A current example of ACIF’s impact is its collaboration with the Australasian Procurement and Construction Council (APCC), the peak body for government procurement and construction policy across Australia and New Zealand, on a comprehensive, industry-led examination of productivity barriers in government construction procurement. We encourage you to take their survey here.
Having Angelina on the Board strengthens our ability to shape these conversations from the inside. We look forward to the work ahead!
